Childhood Surgeries

One Journey, Two Arenas

Born with fibular hemimelia and shaped by 28 childhood surgeries at Gillette Children's Hospital, Anna found the pool as a sanctuary—a place where physical differences didn't define limits. That sanctuary became a launching pad to the Paralympic Games in Beijing and London, where she won Gold and set an American Record.

The same discipline that powered a 1,650-yard freestyle now drives her work dismantling barriers in bone marrow transplantation. As a Clinical Research Manager at NMDP, she fights to ensure that socioeconomic status, caregiver availability, or genetic background never determine who gets access to life-saving care.
